Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a single dose of Ciprofloxacin on serum concentrations of a common quinolone drug in relation to serum concentrations of ciprofloxacin. Ciprofloxacin was taken orally as a single dose for the treatment of patients with bacterial infections. Serum concentrations of ciprofloxacin were measured after a single dose of Ciprofloxacin (200 mg) at different time intervals. The effects of the single dose of Ciprofloxacin on the serum levels of the quinolone drug were also evaluated in relation to ciprofloxacin exposure. The concentrations of ciprofloxacin in serum samples collected from patients taking a single dose of Ciprofloxacin were compared with the concentrations in serum samples collected from healthy volunteers. In order to analyze serum levels of the quinolone drug, the concentration values of ciprofloxacin were compared with the concentrations in serum samples collected from healthy volunteers. The serum levels of ciprofloxacin were significantly increased as the concentration of Ciprofloxacin increased from the initial to the maximum dose of Ciprofloxacin, with the increase being significantly correlated with serum concentrations of ciprofloxacin. The single dose of Ciprofloxacin did not appear to be associated with serum levels of the quinolone drug, but there was an elevation in serum levels of ciprofloxacin when Ciprofloxacin was administered at a different dose. However, when the single dose of Ciprofloxacin was administered at a different dose, the effect of Ciprofloxacin on serum concentrations of ciprofloxacin could not be evaluated. The effect of Ciprofloxacin on the serum levels of the quinolone drug could be related to the dose of the single dose of the drug.
